Volunteer teams at high school examination sites ready for deployment

Building on the tradition of one of HCM-UTE students’ most prominent volunteer programs, the 2026 Exam Support Program continues to affirm the university students’ commitment to community service. The program aims to assist candidates in successfully overcoming this important examination while promoting the image of HCM-UTE students as dynamic, responsible, and compassionate young people.

According to the plan, the 2026 Exam Support Program will be implemented in two phases:

Phase 1: June 10–13, 2026

This phase focuses on supporting candidates participating in the National High School Graduation Examination. HCM-UTE has deployed 13 volunteer teams at examination sites across Ho Chi Minh City, involving 333 volunteers.

The volunteer teams will assist candidates with examination registration procedures, provide guidance on examination room locations for each subject and session, and answer questions related to the graduation examination as well as university and college admission information. In addition, volunteers will coordinate with relevant authorities to assist with traffic management, contributing to safety, security, and order around examination sites.

Alongside on-site activities, the program will also organize an online consultation series titled “Stay Calm – Take the Exam with Confidence”, providing candidates with guidance on healthcare, nutrition during the examination period, stress management, and maintaining psychological well-being before this important examination.

Phase 2: August–September 2026 (Expected)

The second phase will accompany candidates throughout the admission confirmation process as they become new HCM-UTE students.

Activities will be conducted on the university campus, at Thu Duc Intersection, and at major bus stations and Metro stations throughout the city, with approximately 250 volunteers participating in two daily shifts.

During this phase, volunteer teams will welcome and assist candidates and parents arriving from different provinces and cities to complete enrollment procedures. They will also provide information on dormitory accommodation, rental housing options, enrollment confirmation procedures, and other essential information to help freshmen quickly adapt to their new academic environment.

In addition, the program will organize an online seminar series titled “Freshman Starter Kit”, covering practical topics such as effective university learning methods, time management skills, integration and adaptation skills, and awareness and prevention of online scams in the digital environment.

Regarding the University's Name Change

On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2809/QD-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name better reflects the university’s multidisciplinary development orientation, strengths in engineering and technology, and its current scale and stature.

Before 2007, the university was a leading institution in technical teacher education. Since 2007, in response to changes in the national academic discipline classification system, the university has actively expanded and strengthened its engineering, technology, and related academic fields.

The name change is aligned with Vietnam’s Higher Education Network Development Plan for the 2021–2030 period with a vision toward 2050. It responds to workforce demands in the era of digital transformation while reaffirming the university’s position as a key national university in engineering and technology.
