On the morning of September 5, 2025, all staff, employees, and students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) participated online in the Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training – MOET) and the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year. This event was organized under the general direction of the Ministry to affirm the role, position, and proud traditions of the education sector, while spreading the spirit of innovation and creativity towards an effective and high-quality school year nationwide.

The Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Education Sector and the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year was hosted by MOET at the National Convention Center in Hanoi and broadcast live on VTV1 – Vietnam Television. For the first time, all educational institutions nationwide simultaneously held the flag salute, sang the National Anthem, and officially opened the new academic year in a solemn and unified manner, with the participation of about 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million pupils and students across the country.

As part of the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son delivered a speech marking the 80th anniversary of the education sector and inaugurating the 2025–2026 academic year. Representatives of students nationwide also shared their thoughts. General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, conferred the highest honors of the Party and State to MOET, delivered a keynote address, and struck the ceremonial drum to open the 2025–2026 school year.

The 2025–2026 academic year marks the first year of nationwide implementation of the two-tier government model, in which preschools, primary schools, and lower secondary schools are directly managed at the commune level. The education sector will continue rolling out the 2018 General Education Program, expand full-day schooling, promote digital transformation, strengthen digital competencies and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), enhance STEM education, and mobilize artisans, artists, and athletes to participate in school-based education.
