1. Background
HCMUTE Center of Foreign Languages was established in accordance with Decision No. 3179/QĐ – TCCB dated December 31st, 1992 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

2. Functions
To fulfill HCMUTE students' need for foreign languages improvement and address the growing demand for foreign languages of the community

3. Organizational Structure
     As of now the Center has organized teaching, testing, and awarding National certificates of English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, German, and Russian to more than 20,000 people.
     Faced with the practical need of learners, the Center has conducted TOEFL and TOEIC preparation classes since 2000 and collaborated with IIG to organize international certificate test of ETS. IELTS preparation courses are slated to be held in the near future.
     To be connected with the general training, the Center has coordinated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (National University, HCMC), completed 44 part-time English major courses with over 7000 admitted students enrolled, conferred the bachelor’s degrees upon more than 2000 learners. 
     Besides, the Center also offers translation and interpretation services, text compilation, teaching foreign languages at agencies or locally, joint language training with many institutions in the region.
     The number of full-time teachers and part-time ones of the Center is over 70 people, 60% of whom are master’s degree holders or above, and there are 2 to 5 regular foreign teachers here.  
     The Center is currently seeking to cooperate with universities, international organizations to conduct graduate and postgraduate English major training.
