On the afternoon of October 15, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) welcomed a delegation from Vinh University of Technology and Engineering (VUTECH) for a visit and experience-sharing session. The meeting focused on HCM-UTE’s governance models and its experience in organizing training, scientific research and university operations, offering practical insights to inform VUTECH’s direction for reform and development.

The VUTECH delegation was led by Dr. Thai Anh Tuan, President of the University. HCM-UTE was represented by Dr. Truong Thi Hien, Standing Vice President of the University. Leaders of relevant units from both universities also attended.
Before the working session, the VUTECH delegation toured HCM-UTE’s facilities and learned about its spaces for training, research and hands-on practice. The tour gave the delegation a first-hand look at HCM-UTE’s facilities and at how the University organizes and uses its resources for higher education, laying the groundwork for in-depth discussions at the meeting.
Opening the session, Dr. Thai Anh Tuan, President of VUTECH, outlined the purpose of the visit and expressed VUTECH’s interest in learning from HCM-UTE’s practical experience in governance, organization and institutional development. VUTECH was particularly interested in curriculum reform, education quality improvement, staff development, research promotion and the expansion of international relations, with a view to adopting suitable models and solutions as it pursues reform and seeks to improve its performance.

Speaking at the session, Dr. Truong Thi Hien, Standing Vice President of HCM-UTE, welcomed the VUTECH delegation to the University. Dr. Truong Thi Hien asked HCM-UTE’s units to share their experience openly, frankly and sincerely, from governance and training to quality assurance and resource development, so that the delegation could access specific information and better understand how HCM-UTE organizes and runs its activities.

During the session, representatives of HCM-UTE’s units shared their experience across many areas of the University’s operations, including curriculum reform linked to digital transformation and artificial intelligence; testing and quality assurance; human resource management; facility management and use; research promotion; and the expansion of international cooperation. The discussions focused on practical implementation, organizational approaches and the solutions HCM-UTE has applied, giving the VUTECH delegation useful reference points in each area.

Through direct exchanges with HCM-UTE’s leaders and unit representatives, the VUTECH delegation gained deeper insight into the University’s experience in management, administration and implementation. This will help VUTECH study and select approaches that suit its own conditions and development direction.

The session concluded in an open, frank and constructive atmosphere. The visit strengthened ties between the two universities and gave VUTECH access to HCM-UTE’s practical experience to support its efforts to reform governance, improve training quality and develop the university in the time ahead.
About the University’s Name Change: On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name reflects the University’s multidisciplinary development strategy, its strengths in technology and engineering, and its current institutional stature. Before 2007, the University was Vietnam’s leading institution for technical teacher education. Following changes to the national higher education program classification system in 2007, the University expanded its focus to technology, engineering, and related disciplines. The name change aligns with Vietnam’s Higher Education Network Development Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision toward 2050, addresses the demand for high-quality human resources in the digital transformation era, and reaffirms HCM-UTE’s role as a national key university in technology and engineering. |
